Unit 5: Elements of Curriculum
Elements of the curriculum are essential as a part of the comprehensive theory of organization to show just what are the elements that will serve satisfactorily as organizing elements. Therefore, it was and still is crucial to understand what a curriculum part is and what makes it up.
We read an article "elements of the curriculum" which contain curriculum Aims, Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes. My takeaway from this reading was that I was able to distinguish between the lesson's aims, goals, and objectives, which in turn represents how all of the curriculum's components are met and assessed.
During my SITP, I was engaged in numerous events that were hosted in the school. The events included debates, reading competitions, and other literary activities. These programs were related to elements of the curriculum whereby the main aim was to enhance students' knowledge in the field of literature. The primary goal of the literary events is to encourage students' interest in English. Moreover, fostering students' sense of pride in their skills and supports their capabilities in different fields of literature. The outcome was they were able to speak out and gain confidence. This in turn motivated other students. The goal was to apply what they learn in class to a real field.
Moreover, these elements of the curriculum helped me in framing the lesson plan by covering the three domains which are cognitive, psychomotor, and affective. The objective parts are usually introduced at the beginning of the lesson and outcomes are covered at the end of the lesson.
